15% of Online Shoppers Found Uninsurable by Insurance Survey
Online shoppers for health insurance numbers are increasing steadily, and will probably continue this trend. And why not? We have the convenience of the internet to thank for this.
Here's the proof: GoHealthInsurance.com gets almost 5,000 visitors daily. Most of these visitors aren't looking for a health insurance blog (sniff), but they're looking to buy a health plan and/or want to get free health insurance quotes and compare rates.
Norvax, Inc. did a recent study of the demographics of a typical insurance shopper, writes Health Blog at the Wall Street Journal. So what might an online insurance shopper appear to be?
There were numerous note worthy results in the Norvax report. One of these results indicated that just over 15 percent on online shoppers are considered uninsurable. To be labeled as "uninsurable", one would have to have considerable pre-existing health conditions, or have a BMI of 39 or above. The process that health insurance companies use to determine uninsurability and prescribe monthly premiums is referred to as underwriting.
The majority of the online shoppers are also being determined to be females between the age of 20 to 49. The data from the Norvax report was taken from 446,500 online shoppers between the time frames of June to August of this year. If you would like to see more data or view the report in it's entirety, visit GoHealthInsurance.com's website.
